Since October 2017, PIABO is a trusted partner of the MoBerries network. In our latest partner interview, we spoke with Gesine Schulz to dive into her experience in HR and how she utilizes MoBerries in order to attract the best talent on the market.
Hello Gesine, thanks for the interview with us today. First of all, please introduce yourself and your company to our readers.
Hello, I’m Gesine, the Head of People & Culture of PIABO. We are a tech PR Agency in Berlin and have great clients like Tinder, Nokia and Stripe.
How and where did you start your career? Have you experienced any challenges?
Career means an exciting journey and, in my case, various experiences and different stations. As an HR person, it is important to work with different teams in different sizes of companies, including happy and difficult times. I also worked in other roles, which helped me a lot to understand my team leads and even the CEOs. We experience challenges everywhere. Especially in startups, one is challenged by a small budget, new markets, a nearly unknown (Employer) brand…missing fancy things in the office. For me personally, a dynamic CV was/is my greatest problem and benefit at the same time.
How did you first learn about MoBerries?
As always, the CEO forwarded me a „new“ tool. At first, I was a bit sceptic, then I tried it out of the candidate’s perspective (as each HR should do to understand the candidate experience) and it was simple. I do not believe in cover letters, so it is perfect. I believe in easy processes and so it was something I saw as our way to find talents.
Can you give us some insights on how long a typical recruiting process at PIABO is?
2-4 weeks until the decision is final.
What do you think a potential candidate would be most surprised to find out about PIABO?
I have never seen such a passion for tech solutions as in this company. They are real digital natives.
Do you find Berlin challenging for job-seekers? How would you compare Berlin to other cities in terms of job opportunities?
Let’s not beat about the bush. Salary is incredibly low compared to other European cities but we are really sexy and the opportunities to learn something and gain experience is massive.
What are you looking for in a candidate? Would you say you find a CV or team-fit more important?
What are the biggest obstacles to hiring fitting talent in 2018, in your opinion?
Most talented candidates can choose between many options. You need to impress those with a strong vision, maybe a good purpose and exciting day-to-day work. If you have nothing to offer … be prepared: bad times are coming.
What do you like most about our service?
Easy to use. And I hired some of the best talent in the last 10 months via MoBerries.
What do you think about our mission to kill the rejection?
Rejection sucks. Who likes to be rejected? Not in dating, not at the Berghain, not in the job. Tools that support good matches and save time on each side are important in our busy days.
Are there any specific platform features you would like to see in the future?
I always ask for the hidden talent. That would be nice to know. What is the passion of the candidate? It makes profiles more lively.
Which candidate profiles are you currently looking for?
Good and experienced PR and Social Media People, who love tech and innovation.
What’s the future of social media and what is PIABO’s role within it?
We work with the leading companies in the tech industry. Social Media is all around us. PIABO’s role is to connect with the people, submit relevant information and to improve the daily life – that is a good mission.
Thank you Gesine for taking the time to interview with us!
