The German Startup Monitor found that Berlin is considered the country’s most attractive startup environment for founders. Roughly 17% of all German startups are based in the capital, followed by the Ruhr Valley and other clusters like Munich, Hamburg and Hanover.
Unsurprisingly, many people are inspired to go down the entrepreneurship route themselves. To help shed further light on the reality of starting your own business, Startup Notes, in collaboration with Digital McKinsey came up with the “From Scratch” masterclass series.
Startup Notes is a podcast series that hosts the most successful figures in the European startup scene. To further cater to our community they have started the exclusive series, called „From Scratch“ to share first-hand insights from leading entrepreneurs, investors and digital business leaders from all across Europe. The 12 masterclasses will take place throughout 2018, each focusing on different topics revolving around entrepreneurship.
The first masterclass featured Christoph Gerber, founder of Lieferando, which he was able to sell at the age of 28. He recently founded his second startup Talon. One, a promotion marketing engine for online businesses.
As a serial-entrepreneur, Gerber gave unvarnished insights into starting your own business as well as his perspective on challenges and obstacles of entrepreneurship.
He outlines that if you start a company just to be rich, it is probably not the best way to start a company or to go into entrepreneurship at all. Becoming wealthy should not be the main reason to start a business. In fact, 90% of all cases things will not go as planned. He calls that the “valley of tears” – a period of time where only the belief of getting back up after failure will help you.
His motto is: „Always keep going!“ But better check out the whole masterclass yourself in the video below:
The next masterclass will cover Fabian and Ferry Heilemann revealing the secret behind business ideas and will take place on the 8th of May. Stay posted on social media and, in the meantime, make sure to head over to Startup Notes’ podcast here: https://soundcloud.com/startupnotes
